MICHAEL CHANG CAUSES 3-CAR PILEUP On July 12, 1997, a bizarre accident involving three cars occurred right in the parking lot of the Regency Tennis & Sports Club in McLean, Virginia. A Volvo sedan was making a left hand turn while attempting to leave the parking lot. There were no on coming cars from either direction. But for some inexplicable reason, the driver made a U-turn to the left, accelerated, and ran right into a parked car. The force was so strong that the Volvo lifted the rear of the Toyota and pushed it to the minivan which was parked next to it. In addition to the huge dent it made on the Toyota, the side of the minivan was also damaged. It appeared that the driver of the Volvo was not paying attention to her driving, and instead of using the brake to slow down, she used the gas pedal. A couple of seconds later, the driver came out of the car, inspected the damages, and proceeded to make a phone call with her cellular phone. There you have it, an ordinary accident caused by a young driver. So, what is this all about? Earlier in the Michael Chang clinic, there was a drawing for special prizes, which included a dozen posters, several t-shirts and two Michael Chang Prince rackets all signed by Michael. One of the winners was an Asian girl, who was about sixteen or seventeen. After we had the Q&A with Michael and Carl, I noticed that she was the only one sitting on a chair staring at the poster with his signature. She then had the poster rolled up and went to the parking lot. As we drove past the accident, I noticed that the poster was lying flat on the passenger-side of the Volvo.
Dad. When I read the title, I was so alarmed, but now in hindsight, it's pretty funny. I hope nobody else got a heart attack. :O © 1997-2002 The Man MC |
