Michael on MTV Asia In Control, Dec. 1998
report by Charmaine Baylon

First, he introduced himself. His first video was Hero by Mariah Carey. The reason why he chose this video was because one of his tennis friends sang this when they went out and sounded just like Mariah. [He just didn't mention who it was!]

Note: The videos he introduced, obviously, were the ones he chose. The videos in between were already chosen by MTV.

His next video was Celine Dion's My Heart Will Go On [hmmm, how come we're not surprised?]. Oops, in the first part he also said that everyone knows he's a romantic. So the videos he chose reflect his romantic side [aaawwww...].

The third video he introduced was Savage Garden's Truly, Madly, Deeply. He said that if ever he was gonna perform a song that would really suit him well [in his dreams, he remarked, and he was smiling!], it would have to be this song. :-)

The next was Trisha Yearwood's How Do I Live, the theme song of the film Con Air. This part was so amusing coz he sang! He went like, "it goes like this [sings] ... how do I live [looking to the left with his hands going upward, like a rising/pointing thing] ..." Hehehe.

Last but not the least was Shania Twain's You're Still The One. "Just to add a little bit of country there ..." he said. It's so refreshing to see him doing that kind of stuff. I'm so used to seeing him in shorts and with a racket, sometimes I forget that he also has time to watch MTV [next to Discovery, that is]. Too bad he only introduced videos and MTV didn't do an interview on him. Oh well, there's always a next time.
