Michael's News Archives: August 1998

Michael won the MFS Pro Championships in Boston, his first title this year and first since the 1997 Legg Mason Tennis Classic. Michael arrived early to Boston and played an exhibition singles match against the defending champion, Sjeng Schalken, during the opening weekend. That Sunday, he decided not to peruse the historic sites in Boston. Instead, he visited the campuses of Harvard University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

Earlier this month, Michael went to Los Angeles where he had his left wrist examined by medical specialists (he had tendinitis). The injury forced him to drop out of the Canadian Open in Toronto the very next week.

News & pictures from this month's tournaments:
Aug. 29: Haarhuis, Chang to meet in MFS Pro final
Aug. 28: Top-seeded Bjorkman stunned at MFS Pro
Aug. 25: PICTURE: Many happy returns
Aug. 25: Odds to win the U.S. Open
Aug. 11: PICTURE: Breath of relief
