THIS MONTH:
Michael reached the quarterfinals in Memphis, Tennessee. The week
before, he also reached the quarterfinals of Sybase Open in San Jose
CA, and Michael kicked off the tournament by attending the introductory
player party. Finally, Michael had a short stay in Delray Beach FL
this week, bowing out in the first round.
WINNING A CHANCE
TO MEET MICHAEL AT THE SYBASE OPEN: Sybase, Inc. sponsored a online
charity auction for its 2000 tournament. The winner was eligible to
receive a backstage tour given by Michael and/or receive a one-on-one
tennis lesson with Michael on Wed., Feb. 9. The auction began Jan. 28
and ended Feb. 4, and with a minimum bid of more than $2,000, it was
a pretty serious deal. A winner was chosen, according to the Sybase
Open newsletter: "Youth Tennis Advantage held a cyberauction for a night
with a pro. The winner, Phil Enan, spent time watching tennis with four-time
Sybase Open finalist Michael Chang. Sybase Open tournament director
Barry MacKay, a Youth Tennis Advantage board member for 30 years, believes
"these kind of events are a great way to bring technology, tennis and
communities together."" © 1997-2002 The Man MC |
