Michael is planning
to build a house on Mercer Island in the Seattle, Washington (USA)
area. The article in the Seattle Post-Intelligencer stated
the "summer weather [will be] ideal for his training."
Although Michael
pulled out of the Colonial Classic at Kooyong due to a stomach muscle
injury, he competed in the Australian Open. He exited in the second
round with a straight-set loss to Guillaume Raoux of France.
"I don't feel
there's anything wrong with my game at the moment," said Michael after
the match. "It's fair to say that over the past few months I've been
struggling a little bit, and obviously this is a bit of a disappointment
to lose early at the Australian Open. If I thought I played absolutely
poor tennis then I would feel a bit of concern, so I feel I need to
keep my head up and continue to work hard and eventually it will pay
off."
