Michael's News: October
1999
THIS
MONTH: During the final week of the month,
Michael competed in the Eurocard Open in Stuttgart. Now ranked #73
in the world, he asked for and was granted a wildcard in order to
compete in the tournament.
Earlier this month, Michael reached the semifinals in Shanghai and
the second round in Singapore. According to fan Karyn Choo, a contest
for Singaporean fans *only* took place. The guidelines were as follows:
There is a fan contest(only for fans in S'pore) for fans to show
their support for him and help boost his morale: Fans can send in cards,
artworks, teddy bears and other ways of showing their support. Shortlisted
entries will be sent to Michael, who will pick the top 10. The winners
will have tea with him and also receive free tickets to watch his first
match. Said Chang: " ...I felt very touched. Each and every entry received
is a great source of inspiration to me.." Closing date: 20 Sept 99,
